- STOP PLAYING BRAWL

You know, I was all prepared to do a really long essay/gush about how awesome Shadow of the Colossus is and how incredibly immersive the game is and BAWWW the ending, but I am now tired and going to try to stop gaming and start studying :|

Can't figure out what's causing the compiler error.

cut for block of Java code )

It kind of occurs to me that having to share the TV in the house is a bit of a pain. It's like, if I go do my work first (like I should be doing), by the time I finished, I can't use the TV because mum's using it. But if I procrastinate and use the TV while she's not in, I won't end up doing any work. DILEMMA. It's like the house's setup is encouraging me not to do work.

I'd much rather fail from my own incompetence than pass due to the lecturer removing questions because people got them wrong.

I apologise if I've been snappish and/or annoying lately, this one unit of mine is pissing me off a lot, and I think it shows. HRHGHHHH cannot get my focus on for any of this RE stuff, what a pain. (also, lol came about from NASA in 1968), also cannot access Starmen.net from my house, nfi why. Stuff will be added as I get through them. Might split them up into two parts if LJ bitches me out for tl;dr.

CHAPTER 1: THE SOFTWARE PROCESS )

CHAPTER 2: REQUIREMENTS DETERMINATION )

LOL OKAY OTHER CHAPTERS IN NEW POST LJ CAN'T HANDLE THIS

Structures in C are like classes in Java. SOMEHOW. everything makes so much more sense now. This test should be a piece of cake, barring my stupidity and/or accidentally writing code in Java.

Also, do you guys want me to put my uni related crap under a filter? Since like, it pretty much only relates to one of you, and I don't know if you guys are bothered by my STREAM OF SPAM.

HRHGHHH LOGIC ERRORS IN CODE SUCKS.

temp1 = list1.getTail();
System.out.println(temp1.getValue() ); //type1weight 100
System.out.println(node1.getValue() ); //type1

//testing insertLast
node3 = new ListNode(pile3);
list1.insertLast(node3);

System.out.println("lol testing if insert last works");
temp1 = list1.getTail();
System.out.println(temp1.getValue() );
System.out.println(node3.getValue() );

For some reason, the 2nd last line is printing out a memory address, when the earlier line prints out values. typing getHead() and snickering never gets old

Art is like... the fusion of technique and heart.

I believe the technique should supplement the heart, not the other way around. But I think a lot of the time, people try to bring the heart into the technique, and don't know how.

REQUIREMENTS ENG
SRS (neeeeeed to double check if this is everything I need for the document)
- purpose of project, client, customer and other stakeholders, users of the product?
- project constraints / scope?, assumptions
- functional requirements
- non functional requirements (behavioural requirements) [can further devide into subsections]
- do i need to do project issues

also, while devising the SRS, come up with validation/verification criterion
blah blah blah refine this omg.

Edit: Scratch that. I can't even get ADSL2+, which is pretty much the standard for suburbia now.

Hypothesis testing is always about population mean μ not sample mean Xbar.

Confidence Intervals = (1-α) * 100%
or rather, α = 1 - CI, and is used in Z(α/2), where MARGIN OF ERROR = Z(α/2) * σ / sqrt(n).
CI++ -> result precision--

Significance Level α, is completely arbitary.

Z-values - standardised value
Z(α), double tail
Z(α/2), single tail, common values CI(90%, 95%, 99%) = 1.645, 1.96, 2.576 respectively.

Type 1 Error - H(0) incorrectly rejected. P(type 1) = α
Type 2 Error - H(1) incorrectly rejected. Unknown probability, but symbolised P(type 2) = β

Power (of a hypothesis test) - probability of not making a Type II error. Power = 1 - β

Test Statistic
Z = (Xbar - μ(0))/(σ / sqrt(n)) [for normal distribution]

Reject H(0) if p-value < α

3) p-value (what it is, how to obtain it. "The probability of wrongly rejecting the Null Hypothesis if it is in fact true". indicates the strength of the evidence for rejecting the Null? says here that it's "equal to the Significance level of the test for which we would only just reject the Null", but then what's the point of the p-value if it's the same as the significance level...?)
4) Significance Level
5) Normality assumptions? (is that the assumption of the distribution being normal? Or the assumption of the Null being true?)

6) Z-values (is it that thing you look up on in a Z-value table after finding Z ala Z = (X - mu)/standard deviation. For samples, to standardize, Z = (Xbar - mu) / ( std. dev / sqrt(n) ) )
Additionally, Z(α/2) = single tail, Z(α) = double tail.
7) Central Limit Theorem ???
8) t-distributions ??

speaking of z-values, how the hell do you get the values in a z-table, anyway?

Might be useful for Statistics: http://www.stats.gla.ac.uk/steps/glossary/hypothesis_testing.html

It explains things better than the lecture notes, anyway.

"A more proper term would use the Latin word sexa (six), but sex-idecimal sounded too risqué."

"A group of four bits, or half a byte, is called a nibble. ... Nibbles are no longer a commonly used unit, but the term is cute."

"Requirements are documented in a Software Requirements Specification (SRS)."

IT'S A SRS DOCUMENT.

Edit: "The ೧ symbol is pronounced "intersection" and is preferred by logicians. We prefer Y = AB, read "Y equals A and B," because we are lazy." ffffff I love this text book.
